About this tool
AVIF images from websites don't open in many apps and editors yet. Converting AVIF to JPG gives you a universally compatible copy.
AVIF is the newest widely supported image format, based on the AV1 video codec. It usually produces smaller files than WebP at the same visual quality and supports transparency. Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari 16+ display it; encoding is slower than other formats.
JPG (JPEG) is the universal photo format: every phone, computer, browser and app can open it. It uses lossy compression, which keeps photos small, but it has no transparency.
The quality slider controls the JPG compression: 80–90 keeps the image visually identical, lower values make smaller files.

Can I convert multiple AVIF files to JPG at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many AVIF files as you like; each is converted to JPG and you can download them individually or all together as a ZIP.
Will converting AVIF to JPG reduce quality?
JPG is a lossy format, but at quality 80–90 the difference isn't visible. Use a higher setting if you plan to edit the image further.
What happens to the photo's metadata (EXIF, GPS location)?
The new file is encoded from the image pixels only, so camera details and GPS location stored in the original are not copied over. The photo is rotated correctly before that, so it won't come out sideways.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded, processed and re-encoded entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, which also makes it fast — there is no upload or download wait.
