About this tool
Instagram displays feed posts at a width of 1080 pixels. Portrait posts at 4:5 (1080×1350) take up the most space in the feed, square posts are 1080×1080, and stories and reels use the full 9:16 screen at 1080×1920.
Pick a size and the tool crops your photo to that shape from the centre, then scales it down with a high-quality filter. Uploading at exactly the right size means Instagram doesn't crop or re-scale it unpredictably.
The output is a high-quality JPG, which Instagram accepts everywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Which Instagram size should I use?
Portrait 4:5 (1080×1350) shows biggest in the feed, so it's the best choice for most photos. Use 1080×1920 for stories and reels.
Can I choose which part of the photo is kept?
Currently the crop is taken from the centre of the image. If the subject is off-centre, pick "Fit inside" to keep the whole photo instead.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded, processed and re-encoded entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, which also makes it fast — there is no upload or download wait.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
It's free, needs no account, and never adds a watermark. There is no daily limit; the only practical limit is your device's memory for very large images.
