About this tool

Converting WebP to PNG gives you a lossless, widely supported file that keeps transparency — handy for editing or for apps that don't accept WebP.

WebP is a modern format from Google. Google's own comparison found lossy WebP files 25–34% smaller than JPEG at equivalent quality, and WebP also supports transparency. All current browsers display it, though some older desktop apps don't open it.

PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos, icons and graphics with sharp edges or text. For photographs it produces much larger files than JPG or WebP.

PNG is lossless, so there's no quality setting — every pixel of the WebP is kept.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert multiple WebP files to PNG at once?

Yes. Select or drop as many WebP files as you like; each is converted to PNG and you can download them individually or all together as a ZIP.

Will converting WebP to PNG reduce quality?

No further quality is lost — PNG stores the image losslessly.

What happens to the photo's metadata (EXIF, GPS location)?

The new file is encoded from the image pixels only, so camera details and GPS location stored in the original are not copied over. The photo is rotated correctly before that, so it won't come out sideways.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The image is decoded, processed and re-encoded entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, which also makes it fast — there is no upload or download wait.
