About this tool
Many online application and exam forms ask for a photo or signature between 10 KB and 20 KB or so. The tool lowers quality first and only reduces the dimensions if it has to.
Pick your image and the tool searches for the best JPG quality that keeps the file under 20KB. If even a low quality is too big, it reduces the width and height step by step until it fits — so you always get the sharpest possible result within the limit.
You can change the target at any time, or switch the output to WebP for an even better-looking result at the same size (if the site you're uploading to accepts WebP).
Frequently asked questions
Why is my image a little under 20KB rather than exactly 20KB?
Encoders can't produce an exact byte count, so the tool picks the highest quality whose file is at or below the limit. Being slightly under is what upload forms require.
Will the dimensions change?
Only if necessary. The tool first lowers the compression quality; it reduces width and height only when the image still doesn't fit. The final dimensions are shown next to the result.
My form needs JPG. Is the output JPG?
Yes, the default output here is JPG, which every upload form accepts. You can switch to WebP, AVIF or PNG if you prefer.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded, processed and re-encoded entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, which also makes it fast — there is no upload or download wait.
