About this tool
Large images slow down websites, fill up storage and get rejected by email and upload forms. This tool re-encodes your image with modern encoders — MozJPEG for JPG, libwebp for WebP, libavif for AVIF and OxiPNG for PNG — which squeeze out far more than a typical "save as" does.
A quality setting around 70–80 is usually indistinguishable from the original on screen while cutting the file size dramatically. Lower it for smaller files, or switch the output to WebP or AVIF for the biggest savings.
Need an exact size instead, such as under 100 KB for a form? Switch to "Target size" and the tool finds the highest quality that fits.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my image get?
It depends on the image. Photos straight from a phone or camera often shrink by 60–90% at quality 75. Images that are already heavily compressed shrink less.
Will compressing reduce the quality?
JPG, WebP and AVIF compression is lossy, but at quality 70–80 the difference is very hard to see. PNG compression here is lossless — the pixels stay identical.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded, processed and re-encoded entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, which also makes it fast — there is no upload or download wait.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
It's free, needs no account, and never adds a watermark. There is no daily limit; the only practical limit is your device's memory for very large images.
