About this tool

HEIC is the format iPhones save photos in by default. It is efficient, but Windows, Android, many websites and upload forms don't accept it — which is why converting it is so common.
PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos, icons and graphics with sharp edges or text. For photographs it produces much larger files than JPG or WebP.
PNG is lossless, so there's no quality setting — every pixel of the HEIC is kept.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files to PNG at once?

Why can't I open HEIC photos on my computer?
HEIC needs a codec that Windows doesn't include by default and many apps and websites don't support. Converting to JPG or PNG avoids the problem entirely.
What happens to the photo's metadata (EXIF, GPS location)?
The new file is encoded from the image pixels only, so camera details and GPS location stored in the original are not copied over. The photo is rotated correctly before that, so it won't come out sideways.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded, processed and re-encoded entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, which also makes it fast — there is no upload or download wait.
